Scope of Work:

The CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) Operator at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) under KIRA is responsible for supporting design, construction, and renovation projects through proficient use of CAD software and technical drawing skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software to produce accurate and detailed technical drawings, schematics, and plans for construction, renovation, and facilities projects at USAFA.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to translate conceptual designs into precise technical drawings.
  • Create and modify drawings as per project specifications, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Maintain an organized database of drawings and ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation.
  • Work closely with the design and engineering teams to incorporate design changes and revisions into existing drawings.
  • Provide support during project reviews and contribute to the development of project documentation.
  • Assist in conducting site surveys and gathering necessary data for drafting purposes.
  • Ensure that all drawings adhere to established CAD standards and are accessible to relevant project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify potential design improvements and efficiencies.
  • Stay updated on the latest CAD software tools and technologies to enhance proficiency and productivity.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have 2-3+ years of active experience using CAD software (specifically AutoCAD 2020 or newer, Revit 2024, & preferred experience with Civil 3D), having demonstrated expertise in technical drafting and drawing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in producing technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to interpret design concepts and translate them into detailed technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in construction or facilities projects, especially within a military or government environment, is advantageous.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational or technical training in CAD operations preferred.
  • 2-3 years of working design and design review experience.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk software to include Revit and Civil 3D, preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
