Job Title: Drafter / Jr Designer

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Drafter / Jr Designer, collaborating with our Electrical Grid Infrastructure teams in Elkridge to support a variety of substation and transmission projects. You will primarily focus on drafting projects for our end client, while working within an engineering consulting firm responsible for creating blueprints for these projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity to start as a drafter or junior designer and grow into more complex design roles.

Responsibilities

• Attend team and project meetings.
• Work independently on electrical, structural, and civil drafting concepts.
• Layout construction documents according to project specifications.
• Apply basic design principles, with opportunities for more complex work based on skill level.
• Train with lead designers and engineers to enhance skills.
• Submit work for quality review and make corrections as needed.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding project needs and responsibilities.

Essential Skills

• Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD software, only industry specific training will be provided, you must know how to use AutoCAD or MicroStation without much guidance
• Ability to work in a hybrid office environment, commuting to Elkridge, MD.
• Strong ambition and work ethic, with a desire to grow into more advanced design roles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of an associate's degree.
• Experience in transmission line and substation design is advantageous.
• Experience in construction documentation and blueprint creation.
• Utility-specific experience, such as distribution junior designer or drafter experience
• No professional experience required, only a willingness to learn

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $25.00/hr.
