Maintenance Electrician Job Description As an Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation and repair of electrical systems, devices, and electrical/electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. You will install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers. Your role will include connecting power supply wires to machines and equipment, and diagnosing malfunctions, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, while replacing damaged or broken wires and cables. You will also troubleshoot PLC programming and various communication formats, replace faulty electrical components, and diagnose and repair faulty components like printed circuit boards. Responsibilities Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment. Diagnose malfunctions such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures. Replace damaged or broken wires and cables. Troubleshoot PLC programming and various communication formats. Replace faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and sensors. Diagnose and repair faulty components such as printed circuit boards. Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors. Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical devices in buildings. Work with 480V 3 Phase electricity and high voltage up to 138KV. Frequently lift and move up to 50lbs. Occasionally work in wet and humid conditions with fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Essential Skills Troubleshooting and repairing machinery in a manufacturing environment. Experience with 480V electricity. Troubleshooting PLCs. Ability to read schematics. Open to working at heights with safety harnesses. Additional Skills & Qualifications Possession of a Journeyman's card is a plus. The environment involves working on the production floor, which can be loud at times, but hearing protection is provided. There is not much mandatory overtime, but there is an opportunity for voluntary overtime as needed. The role includes 3rd shift hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on a 2-2-3-3 schedule, alternating between 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next. Training will occur on the 1st shift for 2-3 months, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The position requires openness to being on-call, with call-ins happening at a maximum of twice per month.
