Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Estimator to join our team in Grand Rapids. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates during the preconstruction phase of commercial building projects. Your primary tasks will include reviewing architectural and engineering plans, performing material and quantity takeoffs, and collaborating with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing. You will play a crucial role in creating accurate budgets and supporting the project team in planning and decision-making before construction begins. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, excels with numbers, and enjoys contributing to the early planning stages of building projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates during the preconstruction phase of commercial building projects.
• Review architectural and engineering plans.
• Perform material and quantity takeoffs.
• Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing.
• Help create accurate budgets.
• Support the project team in planning and decision-making before construction begins.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to fully estimate construction projects at the general contractor level.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Experience with estimation, construction, and bidding processes.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading, commercial construction, and general contracting.
• Skilled in construction estimating, construction management, and project management.
• Proficient in estimating software and preconstruction processes.
• Expertise in pricing, budgeting, and cost estimation.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam and construction document proposals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in retail and industrial construction projects is advantageous.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Travel is not typically required but may be necessary to visit job sites on an as-needed basis. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $48.08/hr.
