Job Title: Superintendent of Construction

Job Description

The Superintendent of Construction leads activities at specific construction sites, managing trades and field operations. This role supports the oversight of work progress, subcontractor manpower, and ensures proper coordination between trades. The primary focus is on ensuring that subcontractor and vendor work is completed safely, in compliance with contract documents and project schedules. This position is also responsible for collecting and assembling on-site testing reports, inspection reports, and completing Construction Completion Records for close-out documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assume primary responsibility for activities associated with specific trades on assigned construction sites.
  • Lead assigned vendors and subcontractors to meet project goals.
  • Ensure achievement of safety and corporate objectives on assigned projects.
  • Ensure projects meet applicable quality requirements.
  • Interact with clients on-site to promote positive relationships.
  • Support the development and maintenance of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans.
  • Develop a working knowledge of project budgets for assigned trades and identify exceptions throughout project execution.
  • Support in the development of change control and financial documentation while protecting corporate positions.
  • Oversee the work of assigned vendors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Participate in constructability reviews of design documents.
  • Facilitate communication between subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel, producing documentation of communications.
  • Conduct periodic site inspections and evaluations, reporting on the results.
  • Support the production of daily reports of site conditions, including weather, force levels, and safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance of project activities with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee startup and commissioning activities of assigned trades if included in the project scope.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Delivery or a related field.
  • Experience in construction, construction management, commercial construction, and construction supervision.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor management, ground-up construction, and safety protocols.
  • Project management skills with experience in site construction, quality control, and project scheduling.
  • Must have experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing project construction or similar fields.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Proficiency in Procore and blueprint reading.
  • Field supervision experience, especially in federal construction.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time or as required by the assigned project.
  • Willingness to take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
  • Overnight travel may be required based on project assignments.

Work Environment

This position requires visiting client sites and adhering to safety rules. It involves working in construction settings and may require extended periods at client locations. The role includes travel and staying in project locations as needed. This is a safety-sensitive position, and the employee acts as a field contractor supervisor for field work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $105.00/hr.
