Qualifications: Three years of experience in building/facilities maintenance
Trade or vocational school graduate OR equivalent experience encouraged
Reports To: Assistant Maintenance Supervisor/Facilities Manager
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrates working knowledge of electrical systems, tools and materials. Able to understand and carry out instructions. Dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision. Applicants with completed apprenticeships or apprentice-level experience will be prioritized.
TECHNICAL TRAINING
Working knowledge of N.E.C.
Local City and County electrical codes and regulations
Forklift Certified
Performance Responsibilities: Electrician
- Ability to read blueprints or technical diagrams. Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems, inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
- Follow all safety rules and policies.
- Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies.
- Install conduit and wire.
- Build/install/modify electrical panels and low voltage transformers.
- Sizing and selection of wire and circuit protection devices.
- Sizing and selection of motor controls and contactors.
- Troubleshoot electrical power distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot electric motors.
- Install and wire electrical motors and drives.
- Repair and maintain indoor and outdoor lighting.
- Operate switchgear for shutdown/startup.
- Perform maintenance on medium and low voltage power distribution switchgear and components.
- Perform or oversee testing of new electrical systems and components.
- Perform basic user functions at fire alarm panel.
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Assist with repairs of HVAC systems.
- Operate various aerial lifts, fork trucks, and other equipment.
- Promotes good housekeeping.
Performance Responsibilities: Technician
- Repair and maintain the exterior and interior of all school buildings in the district as directed. This may include, but is not limited to, furniture, equipment and mechanical systems.
- Maintain assigned district vehicle which includes interior and exterior cleanliness and preventive maintenance.
- Be responsible for the use, maintenance, and proper storage of all assigned tools and equipment.
- Maintain (as assigned) the mowing, mulching, trimming, spraying, and pruning of all school grounds.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain school playgrounds (as assigned) to include keeping playground mulch at a proper level.
- Construct for a variety of needs which may include furniture, roofing, etc., as assigned.
- Perform assigned preventive maintenance work orders and all other assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Participate in the set-up and cleaning of athletic events as assigned.
- Perform field work orders on any needed repairs that are found.
- Stand ready to be called-in for after hour emergencies.
- Take initiative in seeking and completing tasks without supervision and in a timely manner.
- Follow prescribed safety methods which may include the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Frequently lift and push/pull 20-40 pounds; occasionally lift and push/pull over 40 pounds. Regularly climb, crawl, stoop, and/or bend to perform various jobs.
- Occasionally work in inclement weather conditions.
- Understand, follow, and interpret oral and written instructions including work orders, directions for assembly, and manuals.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including maintaining routine records.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
- Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
- Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
- Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
- Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Facilities Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or Superintendent of Schools.
