What We Need:

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and Plant Maintenance, the Plant Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day functional operations of the hospital plant maintenance. This will include assisting the Manager in the planning, control, and supervision of maintenance work and operation of all base building systems as well as interior and exterior building components. The TSS will also provide coverage for the Manager as necessary, ensuring the continuity of all services through the availability of redundant equipment, appropriate staff/trade coverage and repair service.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a primary contact for issues relating to hospital wide maintenance and engineering operations
  • Ensuring the efficient utilization and supervision of staff, contractors, supplies, utilities, and equipment
  • Overseeing daily routines and ensuring preventative maintenance work is completed
  • Creates preventative maintenance schedules based on assets
  • Coordinate the preventative maintenance schedule with the team, generate and distribute the schedule(s), amend and track changes as may be required
  • Generates reports to review Technician workload with team and managers
  • Maintaining all plans, procedures, MOPs, SOPs, and all other documentation necessary for safe and proper performance of preventive maintenance activities
  • Develops Dashboards to share with internal Building Intelligence team
  • Performs data analysis on parts, assets and recommend software enhancements and process changes
  • Measures and publishes facilities KPI metrics to the management team; interprets data and recommends findings
  • Provides CMMS training to end users; serves as liaison for system problems and escalations
  • Coaches and educates staff on the CMMS functions and best practices for performing tasks
  • Dissemination of demand work orders to maintenance staff using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Compiling and analyzing workload statistics and system reports using preventative maintenance software
  • Participating in the development of policies, procedures and preventive maintenance routines frequencies/schedules
  • Assisting in organizing and maintaining technical information, regulatory compliance records, licensing and certification of all elements of HVAC system, elevators, electrical etc.
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of modifications to the building and plant equipment, contracted repairs, and renovation projects
  • Responsible for reviewing all service reports and initiating necessary repairs to maintain proper functionality of building
  • Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and supervising the progress of major shutdowns for preventative maintenance or emergency repair situations (i.e. Hydro, Steam, RO Water, etc)
  • Review Building Automation System (BAS) reports, ensuring alarms are cleared, their cause is fixed and supervising the efficient and safe operation of all equipment including electrical infrastructure, chillers, cooling towers, hot water boilers, steam boilers, air handlers, emergency diesel generators and their auxiliary and ancillary equipment
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure system errors. Contacting service providers for technical support as needed, acting as the main point of contact
  • Inspecting facilities to proactively identify problems and necessary maintenance
  • Monitoring and supervising all incoming work orders, ensuring that the workflow for each mechanic is fair and equitable
  • Perform quality audits and work order inspections and follow ups to ensure a standard service level is maintained on a daily basis
  • Facilitating communication between different departments such as Facility Operations, Occupational Health and Safety and Research Operations to ensure work is carried out as per hospital policies and procedures, and impacted areas are aware of work being conducted in proximity to them and the impact it may have on their day-to-day functions
  • Facilitate the orientation of new staff and contractors, as well training and education of staff and on-going development of departmental best practices
  • Ensuring all contractors have appropriate documentation and approval to undertake work
  • Participating in employee human resource and CUPE union matters as required
  • Applying knowledge of CUPE collective agreement to maintain departmental schedules and assist in troubleshooting scheduling concerns

What you bring to Oak Valley Health:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field of study (e.g., Engineering, Facilities Management, etc.); or a professional designation as a Certified Engineering Technician/ Technologist (CET); or combination of education, training and experience
  • Expert in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) with minimum 5 years experience
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience, healthcare preferred
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting & repairing building systems and performing other related plant duties as required
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, life safety systems, electrical systems and HVAC
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical and control drawings
  • Experience with boiler/chiller plant and auxiliarys operation and maintenance
  • Extensive experience with a preventative maintenance management program
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet, e-mail, is a must
  • Healthcare project management experience would be an asset
  • Proven leadership skills with excellent coaching, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

Work Schedule:

Primarily Days (Monday to Friday 8am-4pm), with high flexibility for on-call, evenings and weekends as required.

Travel required to Uxbridge to support facilities team.
