About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at ACS Manufacturing requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical design and drafting techniques, including the generation of schematics and diagrams. The role demands a solid grasp of the principles and practices related to various technical areas, particularly in the context of plant construction methods and materials. The engineer will perform assignments independently, receiving guidance from the Department Manager and Senior Designer when faced with unusual or complex problems. This position also involves providing technical direction to Drafters and Designers, ensuring that work is designed and coordinated effectively with the team. In addition to design responsibilities, the Electrical Engineer will review job submittal packages and customer-furnished information to plan and design work, making informed recommendations based on their analysis. The role includes performing panel loading calculations and balancing for load centers, panelboards, and switchboards, which encompasses wire/cable, conduit, and tray sizing. The engineer will also be responsible for composing Bills of Materials (BOM) and maintaining extensive and routine contact with project shop and field personnel. Adherence to safety standards set by ACS and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have experience working on multiple discipline projects and familiarity with electrical equipment, including generators, switchgear, and UPS systems. A good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols is essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven environment, especially under tight deadlines. Knowledge of contract specifications and electrical drawing packages, as well as familiarity with the National Fire Protection Association and National Electrical Code, is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2015, particularly in Electrical (with 2017 Electrical being a plus), and working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD or similar 3D modeling software (such as Revit MEP) is also necessary. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office software and strong verbal and written communication abilities are crucial for success in this role. Experience with Accubid or similar estimating software is a plus but not mandatory. The position may also involve additional duties as required, particularly in emergency power generation and switchgear installation, making knowledge of electrical equipment packaging an ideal fit for the right candidate. Daily interactions with Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, and Schneider equipment are expected, and manufacturing knowledge in this area is advantageous.
