The prime objective of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is to inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, troubleshoot, rig and lift, and maintain all Plant mechanical equipment. The Industrial Mechanic's tools including hammer, sledge, bars, drills, wrenches, pipe cutters, lubrication equipment, oil cans, grinder, compressors, vise, punches, welder, torches, chain falls, come-a-longs, pipe threaders, hoists, aerial lift, carry deck crane, boom truck, pickup truck, and other tools as needed.
This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations. Role & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.
Maintains good housekeeping and is organized.
Inspects, repairs, replaces, installs, adjusts, lubricates, rig and lift, and maintain all Plant mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment using skills/knowledge, proper tools and troubleshooting methods.
Performs preventive and predictive maintenance.
Performs layout and fabrication of parts.
Uses blueprints, drawings, sketches, and equipment manuals as necessary.
Responds to emergency callouts, on an as needed basis.
Inspects plant equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
Lubricates equipment.
Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts.
Operates hand and power tools
Cutting with torches and grinders
Welding (Stick and Mig) and Fitting
Operates Shop tools such as a drill press, pipe threading machine, power saw, etc.
Operates Carry Deck Crane or Boom truck use. Performs rigging.
Operate and work from an Aerial-lift or Scaffolding.
Completes needed maintenance record documents
Understands and maintains 5S standards.
From time to time directs other employees and contractors.
Trains other employees as needed.
Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
Educational Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus 3+ years of heavy industrial maintenance experience (repairing equipment, welding, reliability, etc.)
Must have strong mechanical aptitude and possess mechanical troubleshooting skills
Must have the ability to evaluate complex challenges and formulate effective solutions
Must be able to work as a part of a team to ensure continuous improvement
Must be able to meet on-call responsibilities in a 24/7 operation and work overtime.
Preferred:
Completed an Apprenticeship, Certificate Program, or Post-secondary degree in a technical field
Experience with CMMS systems such as Maximo, SAP, Oracle, etc
