Sonnen, Inc. seeks a Hardware Design Engineer in Stone Mountain, GA.
Duties: Work closely with technical leads, Seniors, Mechanical engineers, firmware engineers and other stakeholders to provide development support in design, development, production, certification, firmware development, testing. Develop power converters to meet efficiency and thermal performance requirements within Sonnen products specifications. Design and test hardware protection schemes and FEMA analysis support. Implement new and innovative ways of testing and driving test procedures, executing the tests to get the proper results. Provide feedback to the technical managers and leads about the progress, limitations, and issue points in the project. Maintain project organization and full visibility and documentation over the design process, including simulation, evaluation, and reporting. Setup new and innovative ways of engineering data measurement techniques, including switching device responses, and Thermal characterization.
This role requires a Bachelors Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field plus 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Senior Embedded Engineer, or a related role.
Requires 2 years with the following skills:
-Experience with hard switching, soft switching, isolated and non-isolated topologies.
-Experience with single phase and multiphase power converters.
-Experience with active and passive cooling systems.
-Experience with medium to high-power converter design (1Kw to 50KW.)
-Experience with designs using IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor / MOSFET (metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor) / GAN (Gallium nitride) or other switching devices and Gate driver design, selection, and characterization.
-Designing and building magnetics.
-Using operating principles of grid connected AC/DC converters and DC/DC converters.
-Working with extremely high voltage up to 1000V or more and high-power levels.
