Mechanical Services Technician (HVAC)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Appleton Area School District has a position
available for a 1.0 FTE (100%) Mechanical Services (HVAC) Mechanic at
Facilities and Operations beginning as soon as possible. Under the
direction of the Director of Facilities and Operations and the
Mechanical Services Crew Leader, the Mechanical Services Mechanic is
responsible for performing maintenance and repair functions associated
with the District\'s preventative maintenance program for the
mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration and boiler systems and components of the
mechanical systems. The basic work week of full-time employees will be
eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours per week, Monday through
Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, first or second shift, subject to
the right of the Department Head to schedule overtime work. Please visit

Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as
safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work area. Discuss
heating or cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or
to verify that repairs corrected malfunctions. Recommend, develop, or
perform preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning,
power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, or changing
filters. Estimate, order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and
supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition. Keep
records of repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions.
Record and report time, materials, faults, deficiencies, or other
unusual occurrences on work orders. Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe
or tubing, using pipe fitter\'s tools. Study blueprints, design
specifications, or manufacturers\' recommendations to ascertain the
configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure
the proper installation of components. Adjust system controls to
settings recommended by manufacturer to balance system. Repair or
replace defective equipment, components, or wiring. Install, connect, or
adjust thermostats, humidistats, or timers. Repair or service heating,
ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency,
such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, and refilling non-toxic
refrigerants. Test pipes, lines, components, and connections for leaks.
\*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Two-year Associate
Degree in HVAC and Refrigeration and/or holds Journeyman Certification
in steamfitting or pipefitting or related areas or equivalent training
and/or experience, along with advanced training in digital controls
systems and components Pass all necessary District tests Continually
possess a valid Wisconsin driver\'s license and a good driving record
Must be proficient in and understand the building automation computer
systems operation and software programs, particularly involving the
Siemens Apogee systems Must pass, and continue to pass, the medical
examination required for the wearing of respiratory equipment Successful
completion of hazardous materials seminars/courses as required Testing
for qualifications may be given. Preferred Experience: Journeyman status
or at least five years of experience in maintenance, repair and
installation of temperature controls, air handling units and
