Project Development Manager II

The Project Development Manager II is responsible for leading the development of performance contracting and design/build energy projects, working closely with the Project Sales Lead and Development Team to define project objectives and execute plans aligned with customer goals. This role involves collaborating with customers, providing project leadership, developing project plans, leading audits, ensuring project site safety, managing project finances, and resolving issues. They also monitor project status and manage medium to large-sized projects with moderate scope complexity. The role covers various vertical markets such as education, government, healthcare, and industrial projects.
Responsibilities:
Customer Satisfaction
Collaborate with customers to understand their mission, vision, and operational needs
Develop a project strategy aligned with customer goals and ensure satisfaction by exceeding project expectations
Facilitate technical communication and presentation of customer project details
Project Leadership
Provide strong leadership to the project team, offering direction and tools for success
Drive innovation and creative solutions to surpass customer expectations
Develop project charter and communication plan for project development efforts
Offer technical leadership in reviewing scopes of work, project deliverables, and customer stakeholder management
Develop Project Plan, Schedule, and Budget
Work with sales lead to develop a strategic plan and build a project plan to meet the strategy
Identify schedule and budget constraints and opportunities to achieve project strategy
Collaborate with internal and external teams on budget, phasing, and scope of work deliverables
Lead, Plan, Organize, and Participate in Audits
Coordinate internal and external teams for facility audits and site access on customer sites
Lead customer kickoff meetings and scope debriefs
Responsible for Project Site Safety
Develop a safety strategy for the project and communicate safety requirements to all project team members and subcontractors
Execute safety strategy, perform job hazard analysis, risk assessments, and safety audits
Ensure adherence to Schneider Electric safe work practices and customer safety requirements
Develop Scope, Coordinate Technical Strategy, Project Financials, Customer Reports, and Final Contract
Lead in defining project scope and acquiring scope of work estimates
Review and ensure project estimates are accurate and executable within the budget
Direct methodologies of performing energy savings calculations and identify financial risks
Collaborate with sales lead and rebate analyst to identify applicable utility rebates and incentives
Prepare final project costs in financial tools for turnkey construction of scope of work
Coordinate with Construction and Performance Assurance for alignment of scope, costs, and project requirements
Manage the Timely Resolution of Issues and Track Risks
Manage and create the risk register document and issues log
Monitor project status and report to the management team regularly
Complete all project status reporting at a regular cadence
Scope
Manage medium to large-sized projects with moderate scope complexity
Lead project stakeholders across various vertical markets such as education, government, healthcare, and industrial projects, including municipal water/wastewater and microgrid projects
Education/Certification Required: 4-year college degree or technical degree, and/or relative experience required. Professional Engineering License, or ability to obtain within two to three years is desirable. PMP certification is recommended. CEM certification and LEED accreditation or other professional certifications are pluses.
Experience Required: Relative engineering and project management experience (7-10 years related work experience preferred). In addition, the candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of performance contracting and project development process in building systems and energy use. An understanding of energy performance work in lower and higher education or a municipality project background is beneficial.
