The Purchasing Agent position provides support to Aerowood Service Center under direction of the Director of Maintenance while acting as a representative of Aerowood in the highly specialized and technical aviation industry for the purposes of purchasing a wide variety of parts, materials and services. Use excellent interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with all levels of employees, management and a diverse group of vendors. This position will have accountability and control of parts and materials needed to maintain, repair and clean aircraft that are serviced at the facility while keeping cost to a minimum. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Work directly with vendors to negotiate the best price for parts, products and services. o Maintain organization of parts, materials and consumable supplies. o Order, track and process related paperwork and distribute parts needed to repair aircraft. o Assist AMT's with parts planning for maintenance and special projects. o Keep accurate count of existing inventory using our inventory tracking program. o Inspects and repairs aircraft that are housed at facility as directed by Manager. o Maintain special tool and equipment inventory, track and comply with annual calibration requirements. o Schedule and oversee yearly parts and materials inventory count. o Provide technical support to technicians. o Set an example of compliance with company Policies & Procedures. o Uses time efficiently and completes work in a timely manner. o Achieves established goals. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: o Supervise work practices to Ensure Company Policies & Procedures are followed to ensure safety and aircraft airworthiness. Education and Experience: o FAA Airframe & Power Plant Certification. o Associates Degree or college business training preferred. o Aircraft Maintenance Technician experience in the last 3-5 years on the type of aircraft assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: o Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. o Display a commitment to excellence. o Monitor own work to ensure quality follows goals, policies and procedures. o Exhibit ability to learn and apply new skills. o Synthesize complex and diverse information. o Ability to grasp the operation of an aircraft's system(s) and solve complex system and procedural problems. o Proficient in all areas listed under Principle Duties and Responsibilities. o Working knowledge of current FAA Regulations. o Valid Airframe and Power plant License. o Able to research information relating to identification and proper application of aircraft hardware. o Ability to understand and comprehend detailed operating and procedure manuals, blueprints, diagrams and specialized technical manuals. o Experienced and proficient in use of specialized aircraft tools. o Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite and aircraft, work order and inventory software. o Must be able to safely operate aircraft service equipment such as: auxiliary power and hydraulic units, aircraft tug, power tools, scissor lift, mechanical hand tools/ paint spray equipment, tire/wheel maintenance equipment, electrical test equipment, and battery chargers. o Ability to handle and organize many details and operate with preemptive thinking. Typical Physical Demands: o Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. o Sit, crouch, kneel, stand, walk and climb stairs. o Have good vision, hearing and manual dexterity. o Must be able to stand for long periods of time. o Must be able to work in small confined spaces for long periods of time. Typical Mental Demands : o Must be very organized and require minimum direct supervision. o Must be detailed and communicative. o Must be task and goal oriented. o Must be able to analyze and process complex information, troubleshoot and determine work strategy to accomplish tasks assigned. o Must use preemptive thinking. o Must interact well with all levels of people. Working Conditions: o Office work and exposed to all types of weather conditions in the hangar and on the ramp. o Potentially exposed to flammable and toxic chemicals, fuel and fuel products. o Industrial hazards associated with an aircraft hangar, ramp, and fuel farm. o Vibrations and noise from tools, hangar equipment and aircraft.
