The Coater Pan Operator is responsible for operating machinery that applies the backing layer (bottom pan) to carpet tiles as part of the modular carpet manufacturing process. This role ensures that backing materials are properly aligned and bonded to meet quality standards and production goals. The operator will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to safety, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Set up, operate, and monitor the bottom pan machinery in accordance with production specifications. Load and position bottom pan materials (vinyl, PVC, etc.) accurately into the machine with a pole hyster. Inspect materials and finished product to ensure alignment, adhesion, and quality standards are met. Move chemical totes from Compounding room to the machine for use. Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain product quality and reduce waste. Report equipment malfunctions and assist in minor repairs or preventative maintenance. Maintain clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and housekeeping standards. Complete required production logs, defect reports, and shift documentation. Collaborate with other machine operators and team members to meet daily production targets. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Quality Assurance : Ensure consistent product quality by conducting frequent checks and proactively identifying defects. Safety Compliance : Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times. Team Collaboration : Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support smooth workflow. Continuous Improvement : Participate in ongoing training and suggest improvements to processes and equipment. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within the flooring or carpet industry. Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Basic math and measurement skills. Ability to read and understand production instructions and safety documentation. Strong attention to detail and quality. Experience operating lift trucks with both a pole and forks. Work Environment: This role operates in a manufacturing plant environment where temperature, noise levels, and dust may vary. Requires standing, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift. PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves, ear protection, and safety glasses must be worn. Fast-paced and team-oriented environment with a strong focus on production deadlines.
