Welder Job Description This Production MIG Welding position involves welding on sheet metal and structural I-beams, channels, and blocks. The role requires the ability to read a tape measure and lay out parts on large bases, as well as perform grinding tasks. Welders will frequently work in various physical positions, often requiring bending, twisting, and lifting. Responsibilities Perform sheet metal welding and welding on structural I-beams, channels, and blocks. Read a tape measure to lay out parts on large bases. Perform grinding tasks as part of the welding process. Work in various physical positions, including on knees, backs, overhead, and on sawhorses. Adjust and change welding processes as required by project demands. Ensure cosmetic quality of welds, avoiding defects and weld berries. Essential Skills Ability to read a tape measure. Experience in MIG welding, ideally in a production environment for at least two years. Additional Skills & Qualifications Blueprint reading skills. Experience with sheet metal and grinding. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility with fans throughout; however, the climate is dictated by outdoor weather conditions, leading to very hot conditions inside the shop. The position is available on both 1st and 2nd shifts, with mandatory Saturday work and voluntary Sunday shifts. Training occurs on the 1st shift for 2-5 weeks, with potential overtime. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morton, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
