Position Summary:

The Intensive In-Home Skill Builder Specialist provides services such as Intensive Family Preservation, Reunification, and Family Support using models like Safe and Connected and Strengthening Families. Their main goal is to keep children at home or reunify them from foster care by promoting self-sufficiency, safety, and stability. Specialists achieve this through rapport building, comprehensive evaluation, intervention, and crisis management. When working solo, they create individualized service plans tailored to family needs and strengths. In collaboration with therapists, they co-design service plans. Specialists work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends, and participate in weekly supervision.

Education:

A bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, family studies, sociology, social work or a related field is preferred

Will also consider an associates degree plus two years' experience in human studies or a related field. Exception to education requirement may be considered with relevent and significant personal/professional experience

Experience:

A minimum of two years' successful work experience within the child welfare system and/or at-risk youth and families is required.

Preferred Experience:

Requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

50% Ongoing Support

An In-Home Skill Builder Specialist (Specialist) must be available to youth and families as needed by the family to provide support, advocacy and crisis management. This includes working evenings and weekends in addition to participating in an on-call rotation that allows in-home clients to connect with KVC staff 24/7. The Specialist will complete the required direct contact hours with each family. The Specialist will also provide support by attending meetings and court hearings with the youth and/or family. The Specialist will advocate on the family and youths' behalf to case professionals to ensure needs are being met and to ensure the best care is being provided to the youth served by KVC. The Specialist will provide regular and individualized training and education to caregivers and youth to address needs and enhance self-sufficiency. The Specialist will consistently collaborate with all team members to ensure safety, permanency and wellbeing of all youth and families.

30% Documentation/Record Keeping

The Specialist will ensure all required documentation (including assessments, session notes, audits and weekly/monthly reports) is completed and filed in a timely manner in the appropriate location.

10% Supervision

Regular attendance and active participation in group supervision and individual supervision. The Specialist will come to supervision prepared with questions and statements of needs.

10% Other Functions

Other duties as assigned include activities for the betterment of the agency and all individuals served including meeting the required direct contact hours per family.
