The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to support our fuel tank installation projects. This position plays a critical role in site preparation, equipment operation, and the installation of fueling systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating a range of heavy machinery, installing shoring systems, and assisting with piping, concrete work, and grading. This position requires frequent travel to various job sites and demands a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, telehandlers, forklifts, skid steers, and other machinery as needed.
- Install and maintain trench safety and shoring systems in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and grade stakes.
- Set, check, and maintain proper grades using laser levels or other equipment.
- Assist with the forming, pouring, and finishing of concrete for tank pads, containment areas, and related structures.
- Support the installation of underground and above ground piping and fuel systems.
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation equipment checks; report issues and ensure equipment is maintained in good working order.
- Record job-specific information such as labor hours, materials used, and progress notes.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Travel frequently to job sites across state lines, with extended stays as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
- Proven experience installing shoring systems and setting/reading grades.
- Proficient in reading construction plans and blueprints.
- Working knowledge of concrete forming, pouring, and finishing techniques.
- Experience with fuel system or utility piping installation is a strong plus.
- Ability to travel regularly and stay on-site for extended durations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- Must be willing to travel.
