Incumbent serves as Project Coordinator for the Utilities Department and is responsible for coordinating the provision of new water and sewer service. Reviews and analyzes all aspects of water and sewer connections for use types.

The City is currently in the process of implementing a new salary structure. Depending on the progress of this implementation, the salary offered to the selected candidate may be higher than the amount currently posted. The following are essential duties for this position, performed with or without reasonable accommodation:
Primary

Determines cost estimates based on the size of services/meters necessary to meet location demands accurately.

Review hydraulic calculations for water supply and demand functions related to new service provision for residential, commercial, and fire suppression systems.

Review plan submissions for adherence to CBU specifications relating to service provision for new customers.

Manage the requirements for water and sewer extension contracts. This may involve calculating fees for neighborhood projects.

Incumbent manages special projects assigned by the supervisor. This includes the annual hydrant maintenance and capacity-testing project.

Performs ?eld work to check the accuracy of work.

Evaluates low-pressure complaints and develops solutions.

Secondary

Takes all reasonable steps to maintain a safe work environment.

Periodically attends professional meetings and seminars outside the City.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum knowledge equivalent to a high school education plus 18 months of specialized training in utility installation, water systems, meter and valve systems, computer programs related to the position, and/or hydraulic calculations.

Minimum work experience equivalent to three years in similar positions and/or duties.

Knowledge of utility construction principles, materials, and standard construction methodology.

Ability to understand CBU Construction Speci?cations, City Code, and State and County construction policies and permits.

Ability to read maps and technical plans of various types.

Ability to exercise practical use of mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and various engineering programs for water and sewer calculations.

Difficulty of Work

Incumbent performs duties according to generally accepted CBU principles and water and sewer construction guidelines. Incumbent performs a wide variety of duties, which are broad in scope and involve the consideration of numerous variables of varied complexity and importance to water and sewer construction.

Incumbent manages many projects at any given time and performs calculations that necessitate a great degree of accuracy. Errors in judgment can cause considerable delay and potential expense to the city and developers. Incumbent at times will need the ability to transport themselves throughout Monroe County to various locations.

Personal Work Relationships
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with department supervisor and subordinate personnel, contractors and developers, local government o?cials/agencies, and the public to explain department policies and procedures and coordinate the Utilities Department's water and sewer construction projects.
