About the role:
Brinkman Construction has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Executive to join our growing team in Denver, providing decisive and accountable leadership for multiple project teams in our Operations group. This role ensures successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is a skilled leader who champions innovation, collaboration, and professional development, contributing to the overall success of Brinkman Construction.
Essential Functions:
Leadership and Team Development
- Cultivate a project environment fostering robust employee engagement and high-performing teams.
- Act as a skilled mentor to team members, connecting with individuals and shepherding their careers.
- Provide a safe space for team members to express concerns and needs.
- Ensure all project team members set and meet project learning goals.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor field and project management staff as needed.
Project Oversight and Risk Management
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of contract and insurance language from owner and subcontractor perspectives, leveraging this knowledge toward consistently successful projects.
- Advise and execute negotiations involving high degrees of difficulty and risk.
- Identify project-related concerns and hold teams accountable for resolving issues.
- Provide overall direction to multiple project teams with support from Project Managers and Superintendents while understanding and mitigating key risk factors.
- Maintain a strong grasp on project status, including scheduling, costs, technical issues, and reporting.
- Skillfully identify risks that team members may not yet recognize or understand.
Operational Excellence and Strategic Planning
- Consistently meet or exceed client and company standards and expectations, including schedule, quality, safety, and profitability.
- Create, assist with, and/or review project schedules for the preconstruction department.
- Oversee schedule management, including activity tracking, impact documentation, schedule analysis, and recovery schedule development.
- Maintain high-level knowledge of buyout status, potential risk factors, contingency/allowance expenditures, and profit fluctuations, explaining these details to company leadership.
Innovation and Business Development
- Support work acquisition efforts, including identifying project teams and phasing strategies.
- Confidently articulate vision and strategy to achieve successful outcomes for team members and projects.
- Implement leading-edge technologies, including LEAN construction methods and BIM, to benefit projects.
- Actively participate in community activities and events, company-wide initiatives, strategic planning, and organizational growth efforts.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaboratively and equitably meet the conditions of subcontractor and vendor agreements.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Field and Workforce Management
- Conduct frequent jobsite visits to build and maintain relationships with field and onsite teams.
- Assess and manage total company field manpower needs, making necessary adjustments in collaboration with other project and company leaders.
Financial Oversight
- Provide final review of financial forecasting before presenting to company leadership.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 15-20+ years of construction experience with a General Contractor, including 10+ years as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Preconstruction professional managing large, complex commercial projects, campus/multi-building projects, and remodel/renovation projects.
- 10+ years of proven successful leadership and management experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of contract and insurance language from both owner and subcontractor perspectives.
- Familiarity with regional market, subcontractor base, and multi-family, healthcare, industrial, advanced manufacturing, and tenant improvement market segments.
- Proficiency in LEAN construction methods and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Accountability, integrity, and sound decision-making under pressure.
- Acceptable background check and motor vehicle record.
