The role of Heavy Equipment Operator is critical to efficiently and safely dig holes and install sewer and water lines using different types of heavy equipment including, but not limited to; backhoe, mini excavator and/or skid steer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proper and efficient operation of different types of heavy equipment including, but not limited to; backhoe, mini excavator and/or skid steer to dig or backfill ditches.
- Knowledgeable with the use of ditch & sump pumps for dewatering.
- Ability to glue or slip fit sanitary/storm pipe & fittings and install water service piping by glue or mechanical fittings.
- Follows directions and specifically follows all trench safety guidelines.
- Clear understanding of OSHA regulations regarding shoring and trenching and general construction.
- Intimately familiar with materials needed to complete job sheets and work orders.
- Proficient in blueprint/plot plan reading.
- Knowledge of and efficiency of locating utilities and the knowledge of glue sewer pipe and water pipe and installation of slip seal sewer pipes.

- Ability to read, write, and interpret reports and documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve independently
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred
- Minimum 3 years of excavation equipment operating experience preferred
- Must have a valid drivers license and be in good standing
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 40 hours weekly
LOCATION: On-site
SALARY: $28-$38 hourly, non-exempt

WORKING CONDITIONS
- The environment may include very loud noises, working near mechanical and moving parts, working at various heights, and small, awkward, confining work spaces
- Must be able to do the following activities for most of the work day: stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, see, talk and hear
- Must be able to climb or balance regularly
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers and perceive attributes of objects and materials
- Exposed to outdoor weather conditions including rain, humidity, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
- Capable and willing to wear jobsite specific personal protective equipment and able to lift at least 50 lbs
