POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Estimator reports to the Director of Estimating and is responsible for overseeing the complete estimating process for high-end residential and light commercial projects. This includes interpreting architectural and interior design drawings, performing detailed material takeoffs, preparing budgets and bid packages, and supporting the sales and project management teams with accurate cost data. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent technical proficiency with takeoff and estimating software, and experience working with high-end materials and custom scopes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review architectural and construction documents in conjunction with scope to identify finishes and quantities for tile, stone, porcelain and other materials.
Prepare accurate and detailed material quantity takeoffs using estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam).
Develop and maintain comprehensive cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for luxury residential and light commercial projects.
Collaborate with architects, designers, builders, and procurement to clarify design intent and product specifications if and when necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current material costs, sourcing options, and installation methods to ensure accurate pricing.
Track changes in project scope and revise estimates accordingly to reflect updated plans or client selections.
Support the transition from estimating to project handoff by preparing allowance documents, product schedules, and internal reports.
Contribute to process improvement and development of estimating standards and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
5-7+ years of experience in estimating within the construction or architectural industry, preferably with tile/stone or finishes.
Strong understanding of residential construction, architectural drawings, and design documentation.
Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam).
Drafting technical drawings/shop drawings.
Proficiency with AutoCAD/2D Modeling.
MS Excel proficiency.
Experience with scheduling software (e.g., MS Projects)
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with high-end residential or light commercial projects is highly preferred.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Familiarity with luxury tile, stone, and porcelain materials is a plus.
