Job Summary:

Prepare surfaces for painting and finishing. Apply undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials. Mixes and matches paints and finishes. Perform soda and water blasting. Advise in the selection and storage of painting materials.

Pay Transparency:

Pay Rate is $38.57

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches, paints furniture, surfaces, buildings, and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, water-proofing and heat resistant finishes.
  • Tapes, flushes, repairs and applies texturing, wallpaper, and acoustic layers on a variety of surfaces. Adjust colors when necessary, utilizes enhanced finishing skills when appropriate.
  • Applies materials to new construction, existing alterations, and remodeling.
  • Graffiti response and removal using a variety of available products.
  • Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers and electrostatic sprayers, pumps etc. Safely stores and labels all materials.
  • Estimates time and materials required; keeps computerized records and submits reports of work performed.
  • Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Erects scaffolding, rigging, and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
  • Offers assistance and advice on materials, designs, and color.
  • Respond to self and customer generated work requests.
  • Prepare surfaces, for painting by removing old finish and covering imperfections on the surface.
  • Mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.
  • Repairs holes in walls and ceilings and finishes to correct surface textures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Lead Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on painting experience.
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years experience working with commercial office facilities.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, exceptional organizational skills, superior oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with occasional on-site inspections or contractor/vendor meetings.
