This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As a Mechanical Engineer, youll play a pivotal role in the New Glenn Rocket program, collaborating with a skilled team to design, develop, and qualify critically meaningful avionics' hardware, enabling reliable and reusable spaceflight to advance our vision of millions living and working in space.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will directly contribute to the planning, selection, development, sourcing and acceptance of mechanical engineering for next generation of launch vehicles. In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will play a crucial role.

You will work closely with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers to create and expedite Change Requests and Design Improvements to various assemblies and parts. You will design rugidized electronic enclosures for New Glenn avionics for the vehicle and customer payloads such as the Kuiper Satellite Dispense Unit. You must have a willingness to take ownership of unfamiliar and complex problems, communicate effectively, and deliver technically excellent results in an timely ambitious and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and facilitate Change Requests and Change Notices in Windchill.
  • Review hardware Non-Conformances for acceptability for structural, thermal, and tolerances.
  • Design Electronic Enclosures for ruggedized environment from concept to production.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proficient in CREO design of parts and assemblies, drafting and drawings.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in CREO and Windchill.
  • Experience with CreoView
  • Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience with complex tolerance stack up analysis
  • Experience with MCAD/ECAD import and export
  • Experience with designing parts for a machining, investment casting, and sheet metal manufacturing environment
  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred) with strong structural and thermal hand calculation skills.
  • Strong DFx understanding with the ability to incorporate feedback from various groups and vendors.
  • Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
  • Ability to communicate analysis results effectively
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years experience with aerospace avionics support.
  • Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis (level commensurate on experience)
  • Experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures or similar high-performance hardware
  • Familiarity using ANSYS and IcePak

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20
