Major Job Functions
- Using the technical expertise in this role to inspect parts for re-usability, dismantle equipment, repair or rebuild components, attachments, etc., based on anticipated potential market demand
- Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
- Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
- Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
- Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
- Interact with internal and external customers
- Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
Specific Skills & Experience
- Journeyperson Red Seal HET certification preferred
- Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
- Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
- Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with Caterpillar general line products would be considered an asset
- Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
- Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset
- An entrepreneurial business spirit to collaborate with mgmt. & sales teams to identify and prioritize work that will lead to greater sales and/or profit is an asset in this role
- Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset.
- Valid Drivers license.
- Any other relevant training as required would be considered an asset such as:
- o WHMIS
- o H2S Alive
- o Fall Protection
- o Forklift
- o Overhead Crane
- o Eye, Hand and Back Safety
- o Transportation of Dangerous goods
- o Contamination Control
