Overview
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that operations are carried out productively to ensure profitability and sustainable growth. The Production Supervisor will serve as a link between direct reports and plant leadership. This position will also be responsible for coaching, resolving a variety of issues and maintaining a safe work environment.
Primary Duties
- Responsible for providing a safe and productive work environment.
- Work in coordination with other departments to reduce costs and improve performance.
- Prepare accurate and timely performance evaluations on team members.
- Provide leadership and support to the production department.
- Provides team members with guidance, counseling, training and development so the team members can be effective in their position.
- Capable of engaging with the production team to drive department performance in all areas.
- Set performance goals and deadlines that align with the company’s mission.
- Organize workflow to ensure the schedule is met to meet customer due dates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Extensive walking each day.
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach items both high and low.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two or more years of experience supervising in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED
- Emotional maturity and self-accountability.
- Natural ability to lead in a positive and motivational manner.
- Strong analysis, problem solving, process and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Highly organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Experience with computerized order processing systems required.
- Excellent communication skills and an understanding of materials purchasing and customer service.
- Thorough understanding of order processing procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
- English proficiency (both written and verbal).
