Job Purpose:
This position is a key role in managing the overall day-to-day, performance, coordination, and management of production. Oversees specified shifts or departments to achieve safety, productivity, efficiency, quality, service, and profitability goals for the organization. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to guide, organize, and direct the hourly workforce in conjunction with managing plant operations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage the production lines or areas by planning and directing work to assigned crews while ensuring production and quality specifications are being met safely and efficiently
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate necessary downtime with production and maintenance departments
- Communicate production issues to Operations Superintendent/Manager and identify areas for improvement
- Manages specific production areas or shifts as directed by Operations Superintendent/Manager
- Assist the Operations Superintendent/Manager with the development and execution of safety plans
- Provide direction, training and performance feedback to production staff
- Follow and promote all safety regulations and report any hazardous conditions immediately
- Assist Operations Superintendent/Manager to ensure development and execution of production activities as outlined within the operations plan
- Performs administrative duties required to meet job goals including planning, scheduling and reporting
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree and/or combination of education and on-the-job experience
- Prior experience supervising hourly employees Required
- Prior industrial manufacturing experience Preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities based on business needs
- Collaborative management style with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and ability to use quick judgement to made sound decisions which keep the plant operating
- Quick thinker and decisive on direction
- Knowledge within engineering or related background
- Adequate computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel.
- Proactive focus on operations management
- Ability to coach and manage production crew to strengthen the operations team
