The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and systems in an industrial facility. This role ensures equipment uptime and reliability by performing routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, and other mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and mechanical systems.
Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment failures, including pumps, motors, gear reducers, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
Dismantle, inspect, rebuild, and reassemble mechanical components.
Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machine shop tools as needed.
Fabricate parts and modify equipment to improve reliability and performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Assist with equipment installations and start-ups.
Follow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work protocols.
Work with other maintenance and operations personnel to troubleshoot issues and minimize downtime.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical or trade school certificate in industrial maintenance or related field preferred.
3+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
Forklift, aerial lift, or rigging certifications
Welding certifications (MIG/TIG/stick)
Skills:
Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
Ability to weld, cut, and fabricate as needed.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend, kneel, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
Must be available for shift work, weekends, overtime, or emergency call-ins as needed.
