Production Welder**

Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production.

Fitting and welding parts using information from production drawings and shop travelers.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities -**

- Responsible for making welds to meet specifications on prints

- Responsible for producing strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.

- Responsible for setting welding machine to proper voltage and wire speed for material being welded.

- Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process.

- Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly and tools and machines well maintained.

**Skills and Attributes -**

- Knowledge of welding processes and equipment

- Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead with a good penetration and a quality weld

- Ability to operate acetylene torches

- Math skills including metric system and angles

- Ability to read tape measures and angle finders

- Ability to read blueprint drawings and AWS weld symbols

- Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes

- Physical ability to weld in awkward positions such as kneeling or lying down

- Ability to lift 50 pounds

- Ability to work from a ladder

**Experience Requirements -**

Vocational school training or three years welding experience in related field
