Join a well-established manufacturing organization serving the Oil & Gas and Industrial sectors. This role seeks a skilled Design Engineer specialist to enhance manufacturing excellence and drive innovation across dual facility operations. The position offers the opportunity to work within a century-old company backed by substantial resources, focusing on delivering high-quality solutions to a diverse global customer base.
Responsibilities- Engineer and refine gear production methodologies encompassing machining, hobbing, grinding, and thermal treatment processes
- Analyze technical drawings and product specifications to maintain quality benchmarks and performance criteria
- Evaluate and recommend optimal tooling, materials, and equipment for gear manufacturing operations
- Create custom fixtures and specialized tooling solutions to enhance production capabilities
- Champion continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles
- Partner with cross-functional teams including design, quality assurance, and production to address manufacturing obstacles
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and implement corrective measures for gear-related product issues
- Maintain expertise in industry developments, gear standards (AGMA, ISO), and advancing technologies
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent discipline
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in high-volume gear manufacturing environments
- Proven experience developing heat treatment protocols with strong metallurgical background
- Comprehensive knowledge of gear configurations (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and cutting techniques
- Proficiency with CNC machining systems, CAD/CAM applications, and gear design software
- Deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles; Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in team-oriented environments
