Job Title: Equipment Superintendent
Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.
The Heavy Equipment Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the Company’s equipment maintenance records are current and complete. This position supports the Equipment Department to ensure that service quality is maintained, and administrative support is provided to the managers and technicians within the Equipment department. Coordinate with projects pertaining to activities engaged company owned and rental equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors preventive maintenance programs for all company owned and rental equipment.
- Review daily equipment usage reports and weekly meter readings.
- Creating and closing maintenance/repair work orders including labor and parts entries.
- Apprises Manager about fleet performance and costs.
- Assist technicians in parts orders and issuing purchase orders.
- Handles departmental filing and other department administrative department duties.
- Contributes and guides others to understanding and supporting our cost-conscious culture.
- Obtaining over-dimensional permits pertaining to interstate freight
- Maintaining up to date
- Assist in trend analyses for various equipment performance and maintenance issues and related expenses.
- Supports and contributes to the development and success of warranty and policy programs for recovery of expenses.
- Assists in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for equipment maintenance using known best practices.
- Assists in the direction of departmental activities in budget requirements.
- Willing to making recommendations and/or opinions on scope of work and specifications for major procurements related to fleet maintenance.
- Assists in the established programs, policies, and procedures to maintain a structured work environment.
- Assists in the development and of short-and-long-range planning activities covering all aspects of fleet maintenance and procurement operations.
- Assures timely and accurate responses to Equipment Manager and directives.
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, valid driver’s license etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Any combination of education and/or experience fleet maintenance and heavy equipment operations
- A valid Driver’s License is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the following: principles, methods and practices pertaining to the coordinating of fleet maintenance and repair operations. Understanding of fleet operational goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; tools, lubricants, equipment, procedures and logistics used in servicing, repairing and transporting equipment. Methods used in the planning/coordination of an effective program for preventative maintenance.
- Significant work experience in the following: accurate record keeping; research and procurement procedures; parts acquisition; use of automated equipment maintenance systems used in generating work orders and parts orders.
- Manages and controls all equipment and vehicle fleet within the region.
- Coordinates and develops the equipment maintenance program for the projects.
- Assists management with final equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases in order to meet budgetary goals.
- Maintains the updated equipment inventory list.
- Requests and collects information in regards to equipment needed/no longer needed at the project.
- Provides construction engineering and technical support to the project.
- Maintains communications with local equipment dealers and appropriate vendors to ensure that dealer support, repair decisions, costs and warranty recovery meets expectations.
- Investigates and evaluates cause and extent of damage to equipment involved in accidents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Skill in organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
- Strong team player who can work across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen.
- Able to work independently, sometimes under strict time constraints.

- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
