Westaff is currently seeking a Production Machine Operator and general laborer to work with the fabrication and production teams to ensure our client's products are designed, built and delivered right every time.
The ideal candidate will be a team player, communicate in a professional manner with co-workers, business partners (vendors and sub-contractors) and customers, have mechanical and computer aptitude and the ability to problem solve and learning and retention of new skills. Additionally, a working knowledge of basic machine tool operation and controls and communicate ideas for improving company processes and adjustments to improve run time with positive and constrictive attitude. Opportunities for cross training in other departments.
Works under immediate supervision. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
This position is for operating our client's Prima Power machine-its automated that requires limited manual intervention, however, someone who is mechanically inclined, trainable/coachable and retains the training would be highly successful in this role.
- The training for this position would require a 10am-6:30pm shift to work with the 2 nd shift foreman-once training is complete, then candidates can move to 1 st shift. Potentially looking at 1 to 2 months on training.
Position Type: Full-time in person position 8 hour shift, Monday through Friday
Work Location: One location, Georgetown, MA
Payrate: $20/hr; More possible depending on experience
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
Operating production machinery to include HMI screens, conveyors and punching/forming equipment
Pull CNC files from network equipment.
Servicing and maintaining machinery on the production floor
Oversee the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of sheet metal processing equipment & systems including Prima Power Shear Brilliance punch and Express Bender
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues and troubleshoot/correct system material flow issues
Loading and unloading of metal coils and other materials as needed
Manage and maintain tooling set up
Set up and verify functionality of safety equipment
Ensure efficient workflow of the machine
Understand and integrate equipment parameters
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
Identify production quality issues and take appropriate corrective action as needed and implement preventative measures
Achieve required efficiency and output on automated lines
Collaborate with the engineering, estimating and manufacturing teams to optimize production processes
Involved in preventative maintenance including basic mechanical, electrical and computer systems and data analysis, and escalate when appropriate
Other tasks as defined by the manager
Experience & Qualifications:
3-5 years relevant experience in production and automation required
Experience with sheet metal processing equipment preferred but not required
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment a plus
Experience with CNC punch, plasma tables or water jets a plus
Associates Degree (Recommended, but not required)
Certifications CAP, CCST or ISA preferred but not required
Software Experience Necessary: Microsoft Office Suite Applications
Strong organizational and problem skills
Ability to manage shifting priorities
High attention to detail
Willing to work hands on
Excellent time management and ability to prioritize
Ability to maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
