We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement of materials, supplies, and services for our landscaping company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, vendor management, and cost controlwith a solid understanding of landscaping materials, tools, and equipmentas well as a clear grasp of supply chain processes from sourcing to delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a purchasing manager within the landscaping, construction or agricultural markets.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimization and negotiation techniques.
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
  • An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals and project timelines.
  • Manage the end-to-end supply chain for landscaping materials including plants, soil, mulch, sod, hardscape materials, irrigation supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Source and negotiate with vendors to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery reliability, and favorable pricing.
  • Work directly with the CEO, CFO, and President to ensure alignment of procurement decisions with company-wide strategic and financial objectives.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance based on quality, responsiveness, and supply chain reliability.
  • Forecast procurement needs based on project schedules, seasonal demand, and inventory levels.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory databases, and budget reports.
  • Coordinate delivery logistics and schedules to ensure timely availability of materials for field crews.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and the operations team to understand and plan for material needs.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing changes, product availability, and potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Identify opportunities for supply chain optimization and cost savings.
