Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for effectively executing various tasks and responsibilities under the direction of the Engineering Associates. This role involves designing and detailing structural drawings for multi-family and mixed-use buildings, with assistance from Assistant Project Managers. The ideal candidate should have experience in areas such as mid-rise wood frame design, steel and concrete design, transfer slabs, shear walls, flat plate construction, and more.
Responsibilities
- Design and detail structural drawings for multi-family and mixed-use buildings.
- Interpret drawings, technical documentation, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Attend meetings with owners, clients, or consultants as needed.
- Communicate design requirements to contractors and equipment vendors to determine project scope and feasibility.
- Execute specific engineering studies and design analyses using industry software.
- Perform project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.
- Learn and understand company technical policies and procedures during project execution.
- Assist and perform activities consistent with ethical standards described in the company handbook.
- Actively attend in-house training sessions to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas.
- Perform and document engineering calculations and system design functions under supervision.
Essential Skills
- Experience in structural design, planning, and engineering (3 to 5 years preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, zoning, construction materials, and specifications.
- Leadership abilities and the capacity to manage team assignments and personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structural engineering.
- Licensure is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to learn the basics of design and analyses.
- Experience with REVIT is advantageous but not required.

This is a collaborative and dynamic work environment where architects and engineers work directly alongside each other. The work environment is energetic, with a focus on office activities making it a fun place to work. Employees typically work from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with summer half days on Fridays. The firm offers 5 PTO days, 9 holidays, and 10 accrued vacation days in the first year. The office has recently expanded and moved to a new location in Cedar Grove, with a focus on market rate and affordable housing projects in NJ and NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
