Emerson is currently seeking an Electronics Simulation Engineer in Marshalltown, IA. The individual selected for this critical role will be responsible for developing electronics simulation methods as well as directly supporting electronics design teams in their new product development projects.
This is a new role within an established simulation team that has mature capabilities in structural and fluids simulations, as well as best practices around simulation governance and credibility. The successful candidate will be dedicated, willing to learn from collaboration, and focused on first principles in developing simulation methods. In this role you will work with experienced electronics design engineers, supporting their design and testing efforts, with the resulting test data helping validate simulation capabilities.
As an Electronics Simulation Engineer You Will:
- Independently perform, interpret and document simulations in support of electronics design projects, identifying potential failure modes and options for mitigation
- Define and develop new simulation capabilities, including creation of Simulation Best Practice documents
- Identify and implement improvements and automations to simulation workflows
- Liaise with assigned electronics design groups and actively follow design projects
- Assist and support electronics design engineers as they use simulation software to evaluate design concepts
- Ensure compliance of analysis activities to internal standards
- Collaborate with worldwide teams in developing products that make the world healthier, safer, smarter, and more sustainable

Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics (specializing in electromagnetics) or related field is required
- Fundamental knowledge of analog and digital electronic components and their application in high reliability products
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
- Experience in electronics design or testing, including topics such as signal integrity, power integrity, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), or an advanced degree in these areas
- Experience in printed circuit board design, including robustness in vibration or thermal cycles
- Experience with RF and high speed digital design
- Experience with electronics simulations in the above areas, especially ANSYS
- PCB CAD experience
- Familiarity with agile development processes to deliver incremental value while working towards a long term, impactful vision
