The Professional Land Surveyors primary role is to manage assigned projects. These may include mapping, construction staking, boundary and right-of-way surveys, and more. MCDOT utilizes high-quality, state-of-the-art equipment for data collection, such as GNSS receivers, reflectorless robots, digital levels, terrestrial scanning, and drones.

We Require
Two years of experience in land surveying
Associates degree in Engineering or a related field
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Registration as a Land Surveyor in the state of Arizona or by the technical board of another state in good standing
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire, and must maintain an acceptable driving record

Formal education in CADD software
Job Contributions
Manage boundary and mapping projects. This includes communicating with the requestor what the scope of the project is, accuracy needs, writing field crew instructions, determining boundary and right-of-way lines, reducing topographic survey data, and verifying that it complies with the original intent
Manage construction staking projects. Must be able to read, understand, and perform calculations from roadway design plans and CAD environment
Research and/or assign research of survey plats and records in order to make boundary, alignment, right of way, and easement
Write Requests for Proposals (RFPs), review on-call consultants' cost proposals, and manage On-Call consultant work for the given work assignment
Stamp and sign any Results of Survey that were assigned to manage
Manage one or more of the following for the Land Survey Branch: Drone Program, Land Survey Databases, Safety training, Survey equipment inventory, firmware updates, track repairs, adjustments, and Survey Branch Manual
Manage construction staking projects. Must be able to read, understand, and perform calculations from roadway design plans and CAD environment

Working Conditions
This position requires the employee to be in the office/field or customer-facing for all hours worked
Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties & responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
