We are looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Structural Engineer to support our Bridge and Civil Structures team in Vancouver.
In this position, you will work alongside our structural engineers on interdisciplinary project teams to design, build, assess, and maintain bridges, transportation and heavy civil engineering structures in British Columbia, across Canada, and around the world.
As a Structural Engineer, your responsibilities would include:
- Developing the design of a wide range of structures above and below ground from planning through concept to implementation,
- Assists in the assessment, rehabilitation, and seismic upgrade design of existing structures from planning through concept to implementation,
- Working with other professionals, clients, and third parties as required,
- Writing technical memos, reports to communicate your work,
- Supervising, coordinating and reviewing the work of other structural engineers, including technical reports, engineering drawings, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, and technical support during construction,
- Supports the planning and management of projects to ensure that work is fit for purpose, completed on schedule and within budget.
- Providing project management and technical oversight, including mentoring team members and setting high standards for professionalism and quality,
- Working with new and existing clients to identify opportunities and develop new business as part of our ongoing growth strategy and
- Supporting the preparation of proposals
- Capability to plan and manage resources to deliver assignments within the required schedules and assigned budgets;
Candidate Specifications
The right candidate is a versatile and creative thinker who can lead teams of engineers to provide practical solutions to complex problems.
The candidate must have the following experience:
- 5-10 years of structural engineering and project management experience, with an emphasis on transportation and heavy civil engineering structures (BC experience is preferred),
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering from a recognized university (A Masters degree is an asset),
- A Professional Engineer ( PEng ) with EGBC is required.
- Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, Ministry of Transportation and Transit Supplement to the Bridge Design Code,
- A team player who is self-motivated and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment,
- Strong verbal, written, and graphical communication skills,
- Familiarity with relevant technologies, such as AutoCAD,Civil 3D, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS,
