Summary / Objective

A Scaffold Carpenter is responsible for performing erection, maintaining and dismantling assignments as part of a crew, under the direct supervision of a competent person. This position requires an experienced, self-motivated, safety-conscience individual who is familiar with OSHA scaffolding regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Adheres to all OSHA, site specific and Marquis Construction Services requirements for the construction, assembly and dismantling of the scaffolding.
  • Inspects job site and all scaffold material for defect and safety hazards
  • Participate in safety pre-job audits (JSA's) with the scaffolding crew to ensure all safety hazards have been identified
  • Provide support to a scaffolding crew in the erection, maintaining and dismantling of scaffolding structures.
  • Inspect scaffolding components for damage and other defects.
  • Utilize scaffolding tools in the erection, maintaining and dismantling of scaffolding
  • Participates in the leveling and squaring of scaffold base, attaching braces, horizontals, ladders, toe boards, swing gates.
  • Perform general housekeeping on the job site
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervision

  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear and taste and smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent

  • Ability to pass Hair Follicle Testing

  • Acceptable Background

  • Successfully complete Safety Training

  • Must have basic math skills

  • Basic oral communication skills are required

  • At least two years of scaffolding experience preferred

  • Must be willing to work overtime

  • Required to wear PPE on job site at all times.
