POSITION SCOPE
The Heavy Equipment Operator position is designated as safety sensitive, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols at all times. The operator must be proficient in operating machinery such as D6-D10 dozers and/or 335-395 excavators in accordance with project specifications to ensure efficient and compliant operations. GPS experience is required.
The equipment operator will need to be highly skilled in navigating and operating machinery with steep inclines and be able to rip and push efficiently and maintain grade and slope. Proper training safety protocols, equipment handling, and environmental considerations is essential to ensure safe and efficient operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals
- Assist with setup and tear down of plants
- Perform general maintenance, repair, and service equipment as required or directed by supervisor
- General housekeeping of equipment and plant daily or as directed by supervisor
- Individuals must be able to lift objects weighing 80 lb. on a regular basis
- The use of a shovel to move material will be necessary
- Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by M.S.H.A. and company policy
- Perform pre-shift inspections on equipment prior to startup
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Excavator operator must be able to navigate steep inclines hold grade load trucks and understand benching for ditch conditions
- Dozer operators must be able to navigate steep inclines and be able to rip and push efficiently and maintain grade and slope
- Must have GPS experience, Trimble experience preferred
- Must hold an M.S.H.A. 5000-23 certificate
- Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications
- Team player
- Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
- Basic knowledge of welding and using a cutting torch
- Flexibility to work overtime or weekends if required
