Some of what you'll be doing:**
As a Journey-Level Carpenter, you will perform carpentry responsibilities throughout the Port of Seattle on Port properties. Under the direction of the General Supervisor & Field Supervisor for day-to-day field activities assigned to Port Construction Services (PCS) crews and work teams, you will ensure carpentry work and activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
+ You will perform journey level carpentry responsibilities.
+ You will measure, layout, cut, and install various components including lumber, metal, plastics, laminates from information provided by design drawings.
+ You will build and install cabinets, doors, door hardware, building structures, concrete forms, ceiling work, and knowledge of facilities repair procedures.
+ You will troubleshoot, repair, and replace hardware and roof repairs.
+ You will communicate to the PCS Managers, General Supervisor and/or develop potential solutions related to construction conflicts.
+ You will provide information and respond to inquiries from PCS Managers, General Supervisors, field Supervisors, PCS Construction Project Managers (CPMs), field workers, and other stakeholders. regarding assigned projects.
+ You will ensure and enforce compliance with all Port of Seattle rules, policies, construction safety regulations, and PCS work rules.
+ You will complete all required LMS computer training, working from heights, first-aid including in-person training in a timely manner.
+ You will assist in reporting on injuries, incidents and close calls as well as notify your managers.
+ You will assess environmental risks and observe/monitor construction sites and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws pertaining to hazmat.
**Who you are:**
+ **Experienced** You have five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey-level carpentry experience or have completed a Carpentry Apprenticeship.
+ **Educated** You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. You can read blueprints and/or design drawings.
+ **Desired** We hope you have ten (10) years of recent experience as a journey level Carpenter in commercial, or residential construction. We hope that you have finish carpentry and cabinet making skills. You know how to use a smartphone for communication, email, texting, photos, Microsoft Teams, google maps, and for research. You are comfortable using a computer for email and for looking things up.
+ **Drivers License** You will need a valid Washington State Drivers License, required to travel locally to project sites.

**What else you need to know:**
+ **Work Schedule** - PCS primarily works a two-shift schedule. Day shift works Monday-Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm (5x8s). Night shift works Monday night-Friday morning, 8:00pm to 6:30am (4x10s). You will be required to work either shift as assigned based on business needs, with options for working holidays, weekends, a third shift, and emergencies.
+ **Work Location & Environment** - You will typically start your shift at the PCS yard. Depending on project needs, you may be required to report directly to the Airport, Waterfront, or other project locations. You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, and may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, over water, on piers, shorelines, near roadways, around the public, and in remote areas, work at heights and/or in confined spaces. You must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
+ **Overtime Eligible** You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
+ **Safety & Security Requirements** You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check and a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to access the Port of Seattle Police Department equipment, office locations, systems and/or vehicles. In compliance with Federal and State laws, you will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check. Additionally, you must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment and a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 90 days of hire.

+ In addition to wages for hours worked, you will receive 10 paid holidays, 3 paid floater days. $117,104.00/yr. This represents 2080 compensated hours (hours are based upon available work offered; not guaranteed).
+ You will accumulate paid vacation days at 6.03 hours per pay period (~19 days/year), available for use after 180 days of employment. $200/yr safety shoe stipend.
