Position Summary:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the yard, garage, and warehouse. This position is crucial in achieving productivity, quality, and safety goals while maintaining efficiency.
Onsite:
This is an onsite position that requires the selected candidate to be onsite 5 days per week in Bay City, Michigan.
Responsibilities:
- Receive orders from dispatcher and the estimating team and execute and/or delegate work to employees to ensure that all daily tasks are completed before close of business
- Complete or assist in staging, loading, lashing down equipment, tooling and materials on trucks working closely with dispatcher in preparation for upcoming projects
- Plan and schedule daily work activities, allocate resources, and ensure the efficient flow of projects and tasks to meet deadlines
- Maintain general organization and cleanliness of the shop and yard to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-ordered work environment.
- Monitor and enforce quality control processes to ensure that products or services meet specifications and adhere to quality standards
- Lead by example in maintaining a clean, hazard-free yard and safe equipment operation
- Enforce safety protocols and guidelines and promote safety awareness
- Respond to accidents or near misses in accordance with company incident procedures
- Report any issues with tools, equipment or machinery as soon as issues arise
- Address technical and operational challenges that arise during projects, identify solutions and coordinate resources to resolve issues
- Train and coach yard team members to meet operational standards
- Foster a respectful and collaborative team environment that prioritizes safety, accountability, and service
- Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment as needed to assist with yard activities
Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of the rigging industry
- Proven experience in shop management or leadership, with at least 2+ years in a similar supervisory or managerial role within the Rigging or Machinery Moving Industries is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in the technical aspects of the industry, including equipment operation, maintenance, and repair processes strongly preferred
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce safety protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees, customers, and upper management effectively
