Custom MIDI Controller Mod - Local Hardware Builder Wanted (long beach) compensation: $60/hr (8 hr minimum, 15 hr max) Looking for someone in the LA/OC area with hands-on electronics + MIDI modding skills to help prototype a custom MIDI controller. The Project I'm combining features from two existing MIDI controllers: Transplanting a rotary encoder with LED ring from one device Replacing a knob on another controller with that hardware. there are 12-16 knobs to transplant. Making sure it all physically fits (custom barebones case) and functions properly including LED feedback and correct MIDI behavior This is detailed mod work involving both hardware and signal logic. Skills Needed Modding or repairing MIDI/audio gear Strong understanding of MIDI protocols and LED control Confident with soldering, wiring, and hardware fitment Experience with microcontrollers like Teensy or Arduino for MIDI tasks Pay Structure $500 flat for Phase 1 prototype (up to 8 hours) $250 to begin $250 after 4-hour checkpoint and progress review If more time is needed: $60/hr, capped at 15 hours total then we'll reassess. This is a remote gig, but you should be nearby enough to meet in person and collaborate during the build. Confidentiality You'll need to sign a simple NDA before starting just to keep the design protected during prototyping. To apply, with: 1.) A short intro and your background 2.) Any relevant hardware/MIDI work 3.) How you'd approach the build Thanks, DZ post id: ... [ ]
