DuPont - Facilities Services and Real Estate seeks an Maintenance Millwright/Industrial Mechanic to support our Kingston, Ontario, Canada location.

This site hosts small lots manufacturing and research operations from the various Dupont businesses and you will be part of Facilities Services & Real Estate team. The site systems comprise of HVAC, domestic water, High Quality Water, centralized gas and vacuum systems, life safety systems, raw chill water, steam, gas fired boiler system, sanitary sewer & storm piping, research pilot plants and low volume manufacturing.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Analyze blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine tasks and work procedures effectively.

  • Install and Align Machinery: Install, align, dismantle, and relocate stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using appropriate hand and power tools.

  • Operate Lifting Devices: Use hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and tractors to efficiently position machinery and parts during installation and repairs.

  • Inspect Equipment: Conduct thorough inspections and examinations of machinery to identify irregularities and malfunctions for timely intervention.

  • Troubleshoot Systems: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain various systems, including power transmission, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.

  • Adjust and Repair Machinery: Adjust machinery settings and repair or replace defective parts to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  • Fabricate Parts: Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling and grinders to fabricate necessary parts required during the overhaul, maintenance, or setup of machinery.

  • Conduct Routine Maintenance: Perform cleaning, lubrication, and other routine maintenance tasks on machinery to maximize operational efficiency.

  • Construct and Supervise Foundations: Build machinery foundations or construction of foundations, ensuring stability and alignment.

  • Assemble Equipment: Move equipment to the installation site and assemble it using hand and power tools and welding equipment.

  • Document Alignment Results: Keep detailed records and documentation of alignment results from various methods, ensuring adherence to manufacturers specifications.

  • Install and Align Drives: Properly mount and align various drive systems, including belts and chains, to ensure accurate operational performance.

  • Maintain Piping Systems: Install, service, and maintain high or low-pressure piping systems, ensuring secure joints and safe handling of various materials.

  • Rebuild Equipment: Rebuild gearboxes, pumps, fans, and similar machinery in compliance with manufacturer specifications for reliable performance.

  • Install Sealing Components: Install, repair, and replace packing, glands, and mechanical seals on pumps or similar machinery to manufacturer specifications.

  • Train and Develop Skills: Undergo continuous training to improve skill sets, including specialized techniques (e.g., oxy-acetylene burning), and be willing to cross-train in other trades.

  • Conduct Safety Protocols: Ensure adherence to safety protocols during all tasks, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the implementation of safe working practices.

  • Take the initiative to support team members effectively, providing guidance and support with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Millwright C of Q

  • At least 4 years experience with general building maintenance , preferably in an Industrial Establishment

  • Familiarity with mechanical practical aptitude and experience with various machine shop tools.

  • Experience with field troubleshooting

  • Strong Analytical and problem solving /troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral

  • Strong Commitment to Safety and Ethical standards

  • Ability to work alone or in small teams

  • Energetic and self motivated

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
