How will you make a difference?

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of a variety of digital electronic devices by performing stress and dynamic analysis using FEA and thermal analysis using CFD. The successful candidate will determine manufacturing processes for custom components based on various business factors. From conception to production, the Engineer will work with a multi-disciplinary team to introduce new products to manufacturing.

What will your typical day look like?

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create/Approve technical drawings of mechanical parts/assemblies
  • Create engineering designs of mechanical parts/assemblies using IronCAD/SolidWorks
  • Design-for-Test, Design-for-Manufacturing, Design-for-Service
  • Convert Printed Circuit Assembly designs from Altium/SolidWorks to IronCAD/SolidWorks
  • Simplify CAD models and perform Thermal Simulations
  • Assemble test modules and/or customer lab samples
  • Assist in managing the database
  • Support Operations
  • Work with and support purchasing/suppliers for custom product procurement
  • Generate supporting documents using Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
  • Generate ECOs / ECNs
  • Use knowledge of GD & T, Engineering Drawings, Manufacturing Processes (extrusions, castings, machining etc.)
  • Build Prototype electronic assemblies
  • Program 3D Printer
  • Use basic hand tools, drill press, and Dremel to modify prototype components.
  • Other engineering-related activities as required

What do we want to know about you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering or
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • 5-10 years of experience in a related field

  • Communication skills to collaborate with team members and outside vendors
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work with little supervision
  • Creativity and curiosity to aid in product design and development
  • Ability to adapt within a fast-moving work environment

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States of America is required.
  • Must be willing to travel to customer site as required 5% or less.
  • Relocation eligibility

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$77,400.00-$110,300.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com .
