Cable Technician

Aerotek's client is looking for Cable Technician to join their team in the NOVA area

The Technician role requires learning and developing the necessary skills to contribute effectively as part of a technical team in the structured cabling industry.

Responsibilities

  • Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and walls.
  • Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other methods.
  • Route cable through modular furniture.
  • Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables, and determine length, slack, and label cables.
  • Suspend and support cable correctly using cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze.
  • Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic, and hardware.
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required.
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves, and core penetration.
  • Terminate low-voltage devices.
  • Follow prints accurately.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of construction, cabling, and cable splicing.
  • Skill in fiber optic termination testing and splicing.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Experience with Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
