This hourly position supervises the full-time regular maintenance leads as well as seasonal staff to include snowmakers/maintenance staff, terrain/bike park, and tubing hill attendants in the safe operation of the tubing hill, ski/ride hill, skate park, and terrain park during seasonal operations. The responsibilities include site set up, early season snowmaking; assist with construction of tubing hill, terrain park, ski/ride hill, grooming, daily operations, lift and rope tow operation, and overall safety of the operation.

Is responsible for having knowledge and ability to groom and maintain all operational snow surfaces and walkway/access areas. This position works nights and other non-traditional hours to facilitate snowmaking, grooming, and the operation of Frisco Adventure Park. Responsible for Magic Carpet and rope tow maintenance, loading and unloading lifts/rope for the tubing, ski/ride hill, terrain park and controlling lane entrance and egress. Responsible for maintaining all equipment including snowcats, snow guns, and lifts/rope tow for winter operations. Assists Operations Manager with capital project planning and overall improvements to the Adventure Park. Coordinates and communicates with guest service staff to ensure seamless, safe, and effective Adventure Park Operations. Operations Supervisor will also assist with special events, after school programs, guest services and other Adventure Park activities.

  • Assists manager with hiring, training, supervising, disciplining and evaluating staff both verbally and in writing.
  • Assists with employee scheduling and payroll paperwork.
  • Makes snow with snow guns, high pressure water pump and high voltage electricity. Supervises snowmaking daily work plans and ensures daily required logs are filled out properly.
  • Operates snowcat to build, groom and maintain the tubing, ski/ride hill and terrain park. This includes but is not limited to; snow shaping/farming and construction and daily hill preparations
  • Monitors and maintains snow surface to ensure safe and consistent tubing/ski/ride/terrain park conditions.
  • Monitors tubing hill lanes for speed and safety precautions. Communicates with Manager on employee discipline and corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Provides basic preventative maintenance; machine check out, cleanliness and up-keep of all the operations machinery.
  • Operates the snowcat following the safety procedures in place. Safety is priority.
  • Inspects Frisco Adventure Park for possible hazards and takes steps to rectify any hazards. Communicate corrective actions in a timely manner to management.
  • Enforces daily lift and tubing/ski/ride hill/terrain park operation inspections and completion of required logs.
  • Works with snow making equipment and hand tools to carryout slope preparations at the Frisco Adventure Park.
  • Operates other Adventure Park technical equipment, such as the Magic carpet, rope tow, and snow removal / moving equipment, and hand tools in order to carryout operations of the Adventure Park amenities.
  • Follows industry safety practices in regard to use of technical equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, the magic carpet, rope tow, snow guns, snowmobiles, snow blowers, and all other machinery.
  • Drives Town of Frisco vehicles to acquire fuel and other needed supplies.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all Adventure Park guests by giving appropriate information, directions and conducting all interactions with a smile, eye contact, and clear communication.
  • Monitors snow conditions and tubing lane speed and adjusts starting positions, tubing clusters and exits as necessary.
  • Utilizes established safety and risk management procedures to deliver customer friendly safety briefings, proper lift loading and unloading.
  • Remains alert and vigilant to provide instructions to guests and identify possible problems requiring the immediate stoppage of the lift/rope. Responds to incidents or emergencies as needed. Reports all incidents to Operations Manager and Management Team in a timely manner.
  • Supervises staff to ensure all operating procedures in place are followed including but not limited to safety practices, operating rules and regulations. Enforce and maintain grooming standards and uniform policies.
  • Handle repetitive questions, scenarios and tasks with professionalism, politeness and courtesy.
  • Interacts and maintains professional attitudes and relationships with guests, co-workers, and management in a positive, professional manner at all times using appropriate language and conversations.
  • Communicates concerns or when assistance is needed in a timely manner to Managers.
  • Works in a team-based environment supporting the Adventure Park, Recreation Department, the Town of Frisco, and the initiatives of the Director and Managers.
  • Enforces and utilize on-slope communication equipment and processes to ensure appropriate communication, to ensure adequate terrain supervision, safety response, and guest service.
  • Assists with other areas within the Recreation Department in order to achieve Department goals, programs, events and objectives

Computer Operations:

Licenses, Certifications or Accreditations:

  • Required: Valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Required: CPR/AED & First Aid Certification (provided by the Town and must obtain withing 60-days of hire)
  • Preferred: EMT and/or WFR Medical Certification

Previous Work Experience:

  • Preferred: 2+ year/season experience operating surface lift, chairlift, and/or rope tow and basic level of maintenance associated
  • Preferred: 2+ year/season trail building experience
  • Required: 2+ year of guest service
  • Required: 2+ year/season experience working ski area operations
  • Preferred: 1+ year/season snowcat operations at a ski area or similar environment

Previous Supervisory Exercised:

  • Required 2+ year of supervisory experience in a similar work environment

Language Ability:

  • Required: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Decision Making Ability:

  • Required: Ability to function independently and make sound and reasonable decisions in the absence of supervisory guidance.

Other:

  • Required: Ability to pass a background investigation.
