Your Role

As an Architect, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You will support lead architects and designers in collaboration on all phases of design projects from conceptual design through construction administration. Through these efforts you will contribute to Gensler's mission to create a better world through the power of design.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production
  • Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives
  • Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings including detailing
  • Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design concepts
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions
  • Contribute to production of drawings, specifications, and construction administration tasks
  • Responsible for delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality
  • Assist with coordination of the project manual and specifications
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews
  • Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI
  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project
  • Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of project
  • Ensure projects conform to contract to the best of your ability
  • Manage client expectations, team communication and oversight of consultant coordination
  • Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through successful project delivery

Your Qualifications

  • 5 - 9 years of related experience, including demonstrated success as a project architect on range of project types
  • Registered / Licensed Architect (RA)
  • Confident and self- motivated
  • Entrepreneurial; someone who takes ownership over their work

  • Nimble, open, flexible, curious and creative

  • Proficient in writing, graphic communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in modeling using 2D/3D software, such as CAD, Revit, Octane, 3dViz, 3ds MAX, and/or Rhino utilizing V-Ray
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, lnDesign) and/or SketchUp
  • Growing knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements
  • Able to listen and understand what the designers are trying to convey with their design process and translate that into buildable solutions that fall within budget and meet code requirements
  • Demonstrate a win-win attitude and partnership with contractors, coming up with information that is good for Gensler's vision and the contractor
  • Able to explain drawings and technical solutions to teams, clients and contractors in clear, straightforward language that is easy to understand
  • Able to achieve the technical vision, discover technical solutions and implement them no matter what details you are tasked with
  • Move beyond independent work and generously devote time to support and mentor other team members
  • Committed to pursuing licensure and LEED certification

Following are the key results you are expected to achieve within your first 90- days:

  • Quickly learn the technologies and Gensler standards relevant to your work: Adobe Suite, Revit, gBlox and gFloors, Enscape, Miro, Bluebeam Revu, MS Teams and Office, 3D software

* This is not a remote position. We welcome applications from both part-time and full-time candidates. The selected candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Baltimore area upon acceptance.
