Salary Range: Pay rate is $41.02 to $42.66 per hour

Embark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway, where joining BNSF means contributing to the backbone of our nation's rail infrastructure. The Electrician position is critical for ensuring the reliable operation and safety of locomotive electrical systems and shop machinery.
This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk) and is subject to seniority and governed by union agreement. Shift hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.
Travel is minimal.
Training is company paid on-the-job paid training.
Key responsibilities may include:
Disassembly, repair, modification, remanufacture, and troubleshooting of the railroads roadway equipment machinery, including its electrical and electronic operating and control systems.
Inspecting, testing, adjusting, cleaning, lubricating, aligning, wiring, and conduit work ; connecting, disconnecting, dismantling, and repairing electric motors, generators, alternators, electrical controls, relays, regulators, and related equipment such as limit switches, drum controllers, power cabinets, lights, horns, magnet controllers, PLCs, and electrical parts of hydraulic and pneumatic valves.
Involves repairing existing and fabricating new control boxes and dash panels , as well as creating low voltage AC and DC wiring harnesses for machine operating and engine control systems.
Requires reading and understanding internationally recognized electrical, hydraulic , and pneumatic symbols and schematics, using electrical and electronic test and diagnostic equipment, multi-meters, amprobes, continuity testers, and working with motor control and relay logic systems.
Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet) , walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working on or around heavy/moving machinery, loud noises and fumes.

Basic Qualifications:
- Able to work now and in the future without BNSFs assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
- At least 18 years of age or will be by the anticipated start date listed above.
- Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
- Able to work safely in the above working conditions.
- Able toworkthe above shift/hours.
- Ability to work any shift required
- Able to meet the above travel requirements
- Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear, and understand) in English.
- Abilityto lift and carry up to 50lbswithout assistance.
- Abilityto visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar (clear light)
- Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment.
- Ability to use handsanduse hand toolsto perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
- Ability toclimb ladders; get on/off equipment.
- Ability tobend, walk,stand, andsitfor extended time.
- Abilitytooccasionallywork at various heights above the ground, including making repairs atop a locomotive or other equipment.
- Able to provide documentation of work experience, training, and education for purposes of evaluating towards a Journeypersons status.
Union membership is with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and union dues are required per union agreement.
