The Role

Reporting to the General Manager Technical Services, you will lead the Geotechnical Engineering function for Ramelius, including:

Optimise geotechnical systems including geotechnical standards and guidelines and ensure that all geotechnical risks are considered, evaluated, and have adequate controls.

Participate in projects to geotechnically optimize mine design and sequencing for both underground and open pit mining environments;

Oversee the Group standards and procedures related to geotechnical monitoring, ensure standardization across the group;

Provide guidance to the Technical Services teams across the Ramelius group to ensure that adequate geotechnical consideration is captured in all aspects of mine design, planning and scheduling including short, mid, and longer-term projects;

Collaborate with key mining and mine planning teams to trouble shoot geotechnical challenges within the operations;

Assist in the training and development of key personnel on the various functions of geotechnical engineering in the operations, including the upskilling of the workforce in mine geotechnical practices.

About You

We're looking for someone who brings:

Tertiary qualifications with a Bachelors' Degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geological Engineering;

Broad geotechnical engineering experience gained in both Open Pit & Underground mining environments;

Detailed knowledge and application of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations;

Geotechnical and Backfill risk management (including risk assessment and control systems);

Knowledge of mining methods, layouts and sequencing in both Open Pit and Underground operations;

Soil, rock testing and analysis with competence in Geotechnical Logging;

Developed modelling, analytical and evaluation skills for ground control and ground stability;

Capable to deliver Geotechnical design methods including acceptance criteria; and

A current West Australian C Class (manual) driver's licence and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance for site access clearance.
