Job Description
Acts as a front-line extension of the Shop Manager's authority in supervising technicians engaged in the repair and maintenance of equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directly carries out supervisory responsibilities to effectively manage personnel to include training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensures that all company and industry regulated policies, procedures and practices are followed.
Organizes equipment, shop personnel, and work load to meet work requirements.
Initiates and dispatches repair orders, schedules warranty work and conducts lot checks as needed.
Assists drivers with repair write ups as needed.
Ensures regular maintenance and cleanliness of premises and that tasks are completed efficiently, effectively and safely.
Receives/carries out instructions and maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to read, write, talk, see and hear.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. as required.
Advanced knowledge and proficient use of a computer and computer programs.
Ability to effectively supervise and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 3 years related experience and/or training; or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Diesel Technology; 1 year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid CDL Class A driver's license prefered.
EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 and 609 within 90 days of hire date.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & OTHER
The nature of the environment is one in which the employee may come in contact with outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemical, extreme cold or extreme heat and excessive noise levels.
Safety shoes (steel toe or composite) required.
