Cable Technician/Installer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installation and repair of Cat5/Cat6 copper cabling systems

Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation

Pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables, and labeling to industry standards

Terminating, assembling and installing modular connectors, coaxial connectors, and optical fiber connectors

Accurately testing copper and fiber cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment, commonly Fluke DTX & DSX testers

Diagnosing and correcting copper and optical fiber problems

Reading blue prints to determine telecom closet and equipment layouts

Installing closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures

Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 2 years of data cabling experience

CAT6 Cable installation experience

Experience working in commercial buildings (universities, military bases, hospitals, etc.)

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as necessary

OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and lift certifications for boom and scissor lifts preferred

BICSI Installer/Technician certification preferred

Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive for extended periods

Comfortable with, and capable of, working in open construction environments
